Getting to know Usman: The Engineer Managing Security and Infrastructure

When you hear the title Cybersecurity & IT Infrastructure Engineer, you might imagine someone buried in code or lost in a maze of servers. But for Usman, the role is much more dynamic.

“At Agile, my role is a mix of cybersecurity and IT infrastructure,” he explains. “I design and implement security solutions for clients across the GCC and MENA region, while also overseeing IT operations for our offices in Dubai and Pakistan. That means everything from managing datacenters to delivering L2 and L3 support for networks.”

And it doesn’t stop there. His day often includes running client sessions, delivering technical implementations, and ensuring that security and IT products work seamlessly together. In short? No two days ever look the same.

The Spark That Lit the Cybersecurity Fire

So, what got him into this field?
“I was always fascinated by how technology connects the world,” he says. “But I was equally intrigued by how vulnerable systems could be if left unsecured. Early in my career, I realized cybersecurity isn’t just about protecting machines, it’s about safeguarding people, businesses, and data. That’s when I knew I wanted to specialize in this area.”

From Static IT to Agile’s Fast-Paced World

Like many professionals, Usman started out in a stable but static IT environment.
“I worked for a semi-government organization, which gave me a good foundation,” he shares. “But I’ve always been a technical person who enjoys exploring. I couldn’t see myself doing the same thing forever.

That curiosity pushed him to expand into cybersecurity, infrastructure, and network security. He pursued certifications, gained hands-on experience, and explored everything from firewalls to incident response.

“Joining Agile was the turning point. Suddenly, I was working on enterprise-level projects across industries. It transformed me from maintaining a static IT setup to tackling evolving, complex cybersecurity challenges every single day.”

Why Agile Managex Technologies?

When asked what he enjoys most about working at Agile, his answer comes instantly.
“The culture,” he smiles. “It’s collaborative, supportive, and growth focused. You’re trusted to take ownership, but you also know there’s always someone to guide you when needed.”

For him, the real joy comes from learning alongside others. “Whether it’s solving a tricky client challenge or experimenting with the latest tech, there’s always room to grow. That’s rare, and it makes work so much more fulfilling.”

Challenges That Keep Him Sharp

Of course, the role isn’t without its hurdles.
“Every client has unique requirements, so there’s no one-size-fits-all solution,” he explains. “Plus, the cybersecurity landscape evolves fast. You’re constantly learning, adapting, and balancing multiple tools and platforms.”

How does he manage it?

“Clear communication, tailored solutions, and continuous upskilling. Agile makes it easier by giving us access to cutting-edge technologies and a strong support system.”

Staying Ahead of the Curve

Cybersecurity never sleeps, and neither does learning.
“I follow a multi-pronged approach, from trainings and certifications to threat intelligence reports and cybersecurity blogs,” he says. “Working with diverse client environments at Agile also exposes me to challenges that keep me on my toes.”

A Win Worth Celebrating

One of his proudest moments? Deploying GFI Languard for Patch Management in a high-security, air-gapped banking environment.
“It was tough,” he recalls. “We faced strict security controls, misconfigured DNS servers, and network disruptions. I had to dig deep into troubleshooting, reconfigure systems, and fine-tune the deployment. In the end, we improved the bank’s security posture and patch compliance. That project really tested my skills and proved how much impact we can have.”

His Advice to the Next Wave of Cyber Defenders

For students or young professionals eyeing cybersecurity, he keeps it simple:
“Start with the basics, networking, operating systems, and security fundamentals. Build home labs, experiment, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Stay curious, stay persistent, and keep learning. Cybersecurity moves fast, and so should you.”

Shaping the Future, One Client at a Time

In his view, Agile is helping redefine how clients approach cybersecurity.
“We focus on proactive defense from SIEM and XDR to vulnerability management and compliance. Agile empowers clients to build resilience, not just react to threats. That’s how we’re shaping the future of cybersecurity for them.”
